We've experienced many unforgettable moments as guests in these resorts...eating the delicious risotto with fresh perch on a secluded, private garden overlooking the lake or the calm, moonlit walks by the gentle crashing waves at night when the stars are brightly lit or sipping a limoncello on the dock of a floating swimming pool.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace
Villa D'Este in Cernobbio - 6km north of Como

Here is the king of all Lake Como luxury hotels belonging to the great league of the Leading Hotels of the World.
It dates back all the way from 1568 and through many series of renovations has been transformed from a simple summer residence to a luxury hotel surrounded by 25 acres of magnificent gardens. You can now take part in its old-world charm, just as the English queen and other aristocrats have been doing for centuries.
At the villa D'este you can enjoy every hotel facility imaginable, where every room whether it be a double room or junior suite is unique in size and decor. All rooms have A/C, satellite TV, internet, direct dial telephone, a mini-bar and exquisite, marble bathrooms. Como silk covers the sofas and chairs and there is a large variety of period furniture and oil paintings.
Hungry? How about having a casual outdoor grill by the pool or a formal dinner with Italian or international cuisine overlooking the magical lake and gardens. You might even brush shoulders with a celebrity figure as they love to camouflage themselves amidst other guests after arriving by helicopter!

Only two Lake Como luxury hotels have an outdoor floating pool, the Villa d'Este and the Grand Palace Hotel in Tremezzo. It is especially fun to swim in this pool, as you have the lake on one side, and the Villa d'Este on the other with a view of the majestic mountains all around you. There are many opportunities for other sports in this fantasy-land: tennis courts, squash, sauna, steam bath, jogging track and a variety of water sports.
For a calming afternoon retreat, take a long walk along bushes of roses, bamboo, azaleas, jasmine, rhododendrons and hydrangeas or trees of chestnut, magnolia, palm, cypress, pine to name a few. This Lake Como luxury hotel also has a Spa which is designed to make special use of light, colour and water to create the proper environment for serenity and relaxation based on Zen philosophy.

Villa Serbelloni in Bellagio - 30km north of Como
Amazing service and cleanliness are hallmarks of all the Lake Como luxury hotels, and the Villa Serbelloni hotel in Bellagio is no exception. You not only have the most beautiful village on the lake (if not Europe, itself) right next door - Bellagio, but also a magnificent, private park/garden where you can take long walks nearby.
Indeed the rooms with balcony overlooking the lake, will make you feel like a wealthy prince in a secluded villa somewhere far away and from a different era. Construction on the villa began in 1850 when an aristocratic Milanese family wanted to build a luxurious holiday villa. Lake Como's magical setting, and its particularly breathtaking position at the point where the lake branches off into two legs, has made it an oasis of peace for the thousands of guests who have had the privelige of staying there.
Antique persian carpets, Murano glass chandeliers, frescoes and paintings of mythological scenes adorn the walls of this Neo-classical architectural masterpiece. The rooms themselves have high ceilings and large windows to let ample light in. This expansiveness has a pleasant and relaxing effect on the mind and spirit.
The restaurant itself is very pricey and has limited menus but maintains its high standards. The wine list is large by all means made up of find Italian, regional and Internation wines but expect to pay 10 EUR for a small glass. This is however worth paying for the location alone...when you can enjoy such exquisite views of the lake. We sometimes like to take our friends out for a lunch break at Villa Serbelloni's restaurant just for the drinks and the panoramic setting.

Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace - 30km N of Como

Two words summarize our experience with this hotel: exquisite service. Everytime we go into this hotel, even if only to check rates, we are greeted by a warm smile and courteous, professional service. The entrance itself and lobby room are very beautiful, with ornate, antique objects and fine art pieces; everything in the hotel is also tastefully decorated.
If location is the basis of prime real estate, then this palace hotel has certainly hit the target. One of the most magnificent of Lake Como's flowering gardens - the botanical gardens of Villa Carlotta - just happen to border this hotel creating a lovely setting which adds an extra touch to its already spectacular panoramic view of the lake.
Not so suprisingly, this Lake Como luxury hotel decides year after year to remain family-run and does not submit to the lures of a multinational chain. Perhaps this is why it abounds in so much tender loving care; it also continously seems to undergo renovations and maintenance work, ensuring its quality and modernity for years to come.
Although the Grand Hotel Tremezzo Palace has its famous floating pool, many guests (including ourselves) actually prefer using the pool in the back of the hotel which has a wonderful pizza bar and a great hiking path. Maybe it's the location of the floating pool that causes this, as you have to cross the busy main road to get to it; the back of the hotel is completely silent.
