Best Deals on Italy Airfare...
Looking for Italy airfare can be a breeze when you know where and how to look. Every time you're faced with this task, you can go through a number of simple steps and usually have no problems finding the best possible deal. You can even get some amazing deals from within Europe for as low as 15 euros!
Because Italy is such a popular tourist destination, many airports serve a very large variety of international airlines. No matter where you are coming from, you are sure to find a great selection of possible connections to and from your destination.
Now let's begin our search...
Step #1
Before searching for the best Italy airfare, the first step is to decide upon your closest airport. For example, to get to Lake Como, the closest airports are located in Milan.
Although each airport has its own three letter code (like MXP for Malpensa, BGY for Bergamo), for our search purposes it is enough just to type in "Milan" into the search box and the system will search for all airports around Milan.
Step #2
Decide which dates you'll be traveling on. In Italy, airfare is generally cheaper when you travel on weekdays as opposed to weekends. It also pays to reserve your flight well in advance. Try to reserve at least 3 weeks in advance of your departure date to get the best deals, but if you can reserve even earlier then all the better for you. Step #3
Search an online database of flights dealing with Italy airfare.
A quick search in google will help you find a site that deals directly with your country of departure. For example, if you are departing from Germany, you can use websites ending in ".de". (or "co.uk" for United Kingdom sites)
A secret tip...
From my experience, I have usually gotten the cheapest airfares going to/from Germany, (ex. Frankfurt, Dusseldorf and Berlin). So, try to get a connection through Germany if possible.
For transatlantic international flights, you may want to try a website that searches through consolidator fares. These are tickets bought from the airlines in bulk at very low prices.
Step #4 - optional
By now, you'll have a rough idea on airfare prices for your dates and destination, but you can do one more step to find out about the absolutely best deals out there. It will take some work, but it might really pay off. Here's how it works... Do a search with each airline's website directly to see if they have any specials running at the time. Each airline's website has a special offers link that lists all destinations that are on sale.
