Lake Como has an abundance of medieval churches with their characteristic bell-towers. We noticed many of them while driving along the shores of the lake.

For the architects out there, you will see many signs of 'Lombard Romanesque construction' which was a specific, yet common way to build in the Lake Como region during the medieval period.

Who doesn't dream of owning or renting an Italian villa? If you can't afford one yet, no worries! Lake Como has so many splendid villas with lavish gardens that you don't need to own one in order to feel their grandeur.

By renting a boat, we caught glimpses of beautiful, half-hidden villas hovering over the lake, particularly in the lower parts of the lake - starting from Menaggio and going south.
